Indoor plant mold occurs when preferred environmental or natural conditions do not stay withing the correct moisture and may get too much, the imbalance of which creates indoor plant mold.

Indoor plant mold isn’t a death sentence for plants but the mold can cause some allergic symptom, and with the help of a few simple steps, you can reverse its appearance and effects, without any chemical intervention or expense and with little effort. Removing the mold growth from the soil and wiping off any mold on the plant in well ventilated room or outside is a start.

The primary cause of indoor plant mold is not offering enough flow through drainage and over watering. Reduce watering as soon as you see mold formation. Stagnant air also contributes to mold buildup. Run a small fan near the plants, or open a door or window for fresh air circulation.

Basement mold isn’t good for the “critters” that usually hang around the dark basement.  This is the good thing, the bad thing ismold that isn’t good for those pests, eventually ventilates up and into the  indoor environment that the occupants inhabited. If you inspect and see mold on any rafters discard the insulation and make sure the wooden rafters are cleaned and free from mold prior to putting new insulation up after cleaning.

Next step is to inspect for any water leakage.  If concrete is stained, that is a indication of water leaking.  After all the repairs have been done and if you have exposed block basement walls, you may want to consider water proof paint for concrete to help with the humidity that comes from the building materials.  Make sure if the basement has been “finished” with dry wall.  Dry wall is the one thing that mold loves to feed on.

Once you have cleaned the area with a commercial fungicide to kill mold and spores. Make sure that the basement is dehumidified.  If any furnishings or storage items are to be returned, make sure that all are cleaned of mold and the spores. The use of a dehumidifier regularly in the basement will help to keep mold from returning.
